社交ダンスの新しい団体WDO設立

先日までは、世界的な社交ダンスの組織は、ブラックプール、UK選手権、ロンドンインターなどを開催するWDCと、グランドスラム、ジャーマンオープンなどを開催するWDSFに2分されていました。ここに新しいアマチュア専門？団体が生まれたようです。

アルナスビゾカス、ヤンチャオ、ティモシーホーソン、ジャネットグリーブ、マウリツィオベスコボ、アマンダドクマン、中川勲氏など、ビックネームが名を連ねています。
詳しい事情等、私はわかりませんが、WDC AL（アマチュアリーグ）の機能不全解消のために設立されたようです。

Dear all,

We would like to announce the establishment of the World Dance Organizers (WDO) – the Assembly of those who organize competitive dance events.

The purpose of the WDO:

1. To conduct dance competitions in order to enhance and promote the “Art of Dancing”.

2. To provide an environment of peace, freedom, and unity where all member organizers are able to conduct their competitions and championships.

3. To grant WDO Title Championships to WDO members.

4. To work towards productive cooperation with the World Dance Council.

Background:

The competitive dance world has changed dramatically over the last decade. Unfortunately, not everything has changed for the beter. Many dancers feel that the Amateur World Championships Title should carry greater importance than it currently does and that the current format of the WDC AL World Championships – where so many Titles are awarded in one place – does not help the situation. Many organizers feel that a different format would serve their interests beter and would be more beneficial to the competitive dance world. Echoing this sentiment and realizing that greater cooperation and unity is needed, the Founding Committee of the WDO was formed.

WDO General Meeting:

We would like to invite all interested parties to the WDO General Meeting on the 30 May 2019 in the Windsor Bar, Winter Gardens, Blackpool, England (from 10am to 12:00pm).

Agenda Items:

1. Constitution of the WDO
It is intended that the WDO would be non-profit organization, registered in England.

2. Election of the Officers of the WDO
The WDO will uphold the principles of democracy, freedom of choice and transparency. Following these principles and to keep the organization dynamic, it is proposed that there will be a limit on how long one person can serve as President.

3. Allocation of the WDO World Championships Titles Ballroom, Latin, 10-Dance Titles for:
• Juveniles – Under 8, Under 10 & Under 12;
• Juniors – Under 14 & Under 16;
• Youth – Under 19 & Under 21;
• Amateur – Over 16;
• Senior – Over 35, Over 45 & Over 55.

WDO World Championships will be open for all dancers from all organizations.

4. Additional Agenda Items can be proposed by WDO Members.
Voting rights:
WDO Members will be entitled to vote at the WDO General Meeting.
Votes relating to the WDO’s Constitution will require a two thirds majority.
Votes relating to the election and allocation of Titles will require a simple majority.

Proposals for the WDO General Meeting:
Members may submit proposals for the WDO General Meeting by email to worlddanceorganizers@gmail.com.
Please send any proposals by no later than 27th of May 2019.

Applications for WDO World Title Championships:
Members may apply to host WDO Title Championships 2019 and 2020, by email to worlddanceorganizers@gmail.com.
Please send any applications by no later than 27th of May 2019.
Please note that only titles that receive no advance applications will be available to apply for on the day of the WDO General Meeting.

Delegates for WDO General Meeting:
